About DIGITAL-EU
DIGITAL-EU is a research network funded by UACES and led by Xinchuchu Gao, Xuechen Chen and Sebastian Heidebrecht. The goal of DIGITAL-EU is to deepen understanding of how digitalisation is reshaping EU governance and how the Union is responding to rapid technological change.
Our Goals
Innovation in methods and theory
DIGITAL-EU brings together scientists from different academic disciplines and aims to promote synergy between different methods and data. In its current form, the network brings together expertise in elite interviewing, discourse analysis, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Machine Learning (ML). Furthermore, it is important to theoretically reflect if and how the EU is changing its role in the digital age. By reflecting its coherence and effectiveness, we aim to develop a joint research agenda theorising “Digital Power Europe”.
Community building
DIGITAL-EU aims to bring together early career, mid- and senior scholars working on different aspects of EU digital governance. This network will facilitate collaboration and knowledge exchange among scholars with diverse perspectives, including Political Science, Area Studies, and Global Governance.
Career development of early career researchers
DIGITAL-EU supports the career development of Early Career Researchers and doctoral students across Europe and beyond. The network will offer opportunities for networking, training, and integration into ongoing research collaborations, thus nurturing the growth of young scholars in the field of EU digital policy.
